Arranging your special event can be exciting and fun and brides that I often speak to about their wedding photography are full to the brim with hen party ideas and thoughts about how and what they want their hen party to look like. However, with so much choice and so many companies offering and abundance of ideas and the ‘perfect hen party experience’, it can be difficult to decide what to do and where to go.
To help you and all the brides to be out there, and from my own personal and professional experience, I have listed seven hen party ideas that will provide you with buckets of inspiration so your party goes off without a hitch!
Hen party ideas – No. 1.
Book a boudoir session for you and your girlfriends. Whether it is sultry, pin up or burlesque, boudoir photography is a fun way of bonding with your friends and you can even present the images to your new husband on your wedding night as a special surprise.
Hen party ideas – No.2.
A weekend away with you and your girlfriends is the perfect way to relax and unwind from the stresses of organising the wedding. Booking into a luxury hotel, and organising excursions and activities will ensure that your hens have a great weekend as well. Whether it is in the UK or abroad, you will create great memories, and have a great weekend.
Hen party ideas – No.3.
Organise a model makeover with a professional make up artist, who will come to your home and make you and your hens look absolutely gorgeous for your big night out.
Hen party ideas – No.4.
Of course, I would endorse hiring a professional photographer to photograph your hen party. This will ensure that you can cherish your memories with your girlfriends. I truly believe in making memories precious and can create hen party albums for your bridal party, which you can present to them on the night of your wedding.
Hen party ideas – No.5.
Book dance lessons for your hen party. Bollywood or burlesque lessons are usually the most popular, and its oodles of fun. They also provide another dimension to your party, which is great if you are having a programme of activities or need to fill in a gap. Speaking from experience, your photographer can’t fail to capture some great pictures.

Hen party ideas – No.6.
Perfume making is a unique and fun activity to do on your hen party, and it provides your hens with a special and personal momentum. You can ask your hens to wear their perfume on your wedding day (if it smells nice enough) or you could secretly make special bottles as thank you presents for your hens. For extra activities, you can book a wine tasting, champagne afternoon tea or cocktail classes, which will add extra sparkle to your hen party.
Hen party ideas – No.7. (this is my favourite)
Sit back and let your Maid of Honour organise your hen party. Your maid of honour will know exactly what you want, but will also be able to plan surprise activities that you will love. It also means one less thing to organise, meaning you can put all of your extra energy in organising your dream wedding.
I will be exhibiting at the Heart FM Essex Wedding Show on 15th and 16th February with Make Up Artist Just French Style. Together, we have come up with our own Hen Party Ideas and created a luxury hen party called “The Boudoir Experience“. So, If you are newly engaged, or knee deep in planning, we will be able to provide you with fantastic ideas for engagement, wedding and hen party photography and events.
If you would like to benefit from my experience, pick my brains and talk to me about your own hen party ideas, book a free consultation with me over the weekend of the wedding show – just email info@kimrixphotography.co.uk
Looking forward to meeting you at the show.
